Role Overview

The Bid Manager will be responsible for leading and coordinating end-to-end bid activities from receipt of enquiry/RFP to final submission, negotiation support, and post-award handover. The role requires strong cross-functional coordination with Engineering, Estimation, Procurement, Planning, Finance, Legal, Operations, and Business teams to ensure timely, compliant, competitive, and high-quality bid submissions.

The position is suitable for professionals with experience in managing complex tenders across EPC, infrastructure, industrial, energy, construction, or similar project-based businesses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the complete bid process from opportunity assessment to final submission and post-bid support.
  • Coordinate Go/No-Go evaluation, bid strategy, work allocation, timelines, and submission requirements.
  • Review tender/RFP documents and identify technical, commercial, contractual, financial, and compliance requirements.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to develop technical proposals, commercial offers, schedules, risk registers, assumptions, exclusions, and clarifications.
  • Ensure timely preparation of cost estimates, vendor inputs, procurement quotations, construction methodology, execution plan, and bid pricing.
  • Manage client clarifications, RFIs, pre-bid queries and post-submission responses.
  • Ensure all submissions are complete, compliant, well-structured, and aligned with business objectives.
  • Facilitate internal bid reviews, approvals, risk assessments, and management sign-offs.
  • Support commercial discussions, value engineering, negotiations, and final offer revisions where required.
  • Maintain bid documentation, communication records, lessons learned, and bid performance data.
  • Support continuous improvement of bid processes, templates, benchmarks, and proposal quality.

Qualification & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business, or related discipline.
  • 8–12 years of experience in bid management, tendering, proposals, estimation, project controls, or commercial roles.
  • Experience in EPC, infrastructure, buildings, industrial, energy, utilities, manufacturing, or project-based businesses will be preferred.
  • Prior experience in managing multi-disciplinary bids involving technical, commercial, procurement, planning, and contractual inputs.
  • Exposure to different contract models such as item-rate, lump sum, EPC, design-build, cost-plus, or framework contracts
  • Project Management: Strong project management skills are a must. The individual should be adept at prioritizing tasks, managing multiple deadlines, and efficiently coordinating resources. Experience with formal project management methodologies (e.g., use of Gantt charts or Agile techniques for bid process)
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are critical. A Bid Manager must be able to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively in writing and in meetings. Additionally, strong interpersonal skills are needed to communicate requirements and updates to the bid team and to present proposals or strategy to executives and clients.
  • Strategic and Analytical Thinking: The role requires a strategic mindset to develop winning themes and a keen analytical ability to understand client needs, evaluate competitors, and identify the company’s strengths and weaknesses relative to an opportunity. The Senior Bid Manager should be capable of conducting market research and competitor analysis as part of bid strategy, and translating those insights into a compelling value proposition for the client.
  • Bid Process Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of the end-to-end bidding process and proposal best practices is expected. This includes familiarity with different stages of bids (RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, tender procedures), understanding how to interpret tender documents, and knowing how to ensure compliance with all instructions. Knowledge of procurement regulations is important, especially if the role involves public sector or government bids – for example, understanding government RFP procedures, legal terms, and evaluation criteria.
  • Contribute openly to the team with innovations and ideas to ensure the success and development of the company
