Position Summary

The EHS Specialist/Manager for Data Center Operations is responsible for ensuring compliance with all Environment, Health, and Safety regulations, implementing safety programs, conducting risk assessments, and fostering a strong safety culture within mission‑critical data center environments. The role oversees contractor safety, emergency response, workplace safety audits, and regulatory documentation.

Responsibilities

A. Safety Compliance & Governance

      • Ensure full compliance with national and local EHS regulations (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, fire safety regulations).
      • Maintain required statutory permits, licenses, and documentation.
      • Monitor implementation of site‑specific EHS procedures and SOPs.

B. Risk Management & Assessments

      • Conduct Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), Risk Assessment (RA), and Hazard Identification (HAZID) for all data center operations.
      • Identify unsafe conditions/behaviors and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

C. Safety Operations in Data Center

      • Oversee safety protocols for electrical rooms, UPS, battery systems, generators, cooling systems, diesel handling, and high‑risk areas.
      • Ensure strict LOTO (Lockout‑Tagout) compliance for all maintenance activities.
      • Monitor work‑at‑height, confined space, hot work, lifting operations, and chemical handling.

D. Contractor & Vendor Safety Management

      • Verify contractor onboarding, safety documentation, PTW (Permit to Work), and training compliance.
      • Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, and contractor EHS audits.

E. Emergency Preparedness

      • Develop and implement emergency response plans, evacuation procedures, and fire safety protocols.
      • Conduct fire drills, emergency simulations, and crisis management training.
      • Ensure proper operation of fire suppression systems (VESDA, NOVEC / FM‑200, sprinklers).

F. Training & Culture Building

      • Conduct safety training, induction programs, refresher sessions for employees and vendors.
      • Promote safety awareness across teams through campaigns, audits, and safety observations.

G. Reporting & Documentation

      • Maintain MIS reports for incidents, near misses, unsafe acts, and environmental compliance.
      • Conduct incident investigations using RCA (Root Cause Analysis).
      • Track KPIs: LTIR, TRIR, near‑miss frequency, compliance scores.

 

Experience & Education

      • Education
      • Bachelor’s degree in engineering / environmental science / safety management.
      • Preferred: Diploma in Industrial Safety (ADIS / NEBOSH IGC).
      • Experience
      • 5–10 years of EHS experience, preferably in:
      • Data centers / IT infrastructure /Telecom facilities /Manufacturing / critical facilities
