Position Summary

The Colo Manager is responsible for managing day-to-day operations of colocation facilities, ensuring maximum uptime, operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and compliance with data center standards. This role oversees infrastructure operations, vendor coordination, capacity planning, and adherence to SLA-driven service delivery within the colocation site.

Responsibilities

A. Colocation Operations Management

      • Manage end-to-end operations of the colocation data center facility.
      • Ensure 24x7 uptime and operational continuity for power, cooling, network, and security.
      • Oversee space, power, and rack allocations based on business needs and customer requirements.
      • Monitor environmental controls, load distribution, and facility health via DCIM tools.

B. Customer & Stakeholder Management

      • Serve as the primary point of contact for colocation customers.
      • Coordinate access, change requests, and service tickets through ITSM platforms.
      • Support customer onboarding, audits, compliance visits, and capacity expansions.

C. Infrastructure Management

      • Oversee maintenance of electrical, mechanical, and IT infrastructure:
        • UPS systems, generators, transformers
        • Precision cooling systems
        • Fire detection & suppression systems
        • Structured cabling & network connections
      • Ensure preventive and corrective maintenance is carried out on schedule.

D. Vendor & Partner Management

      • Work closely with vendors, OEMs, facility teams, and service providers.
      • Ensure adherence to SLAs and verify completion of contracted services.
      • Review vendor performance and recommend improvements.

E. Compliance, Security & Audit Readiness

      • Ensure facility compliance with certifications such as ISO 27001, ISO 20000, SOC2, TIA-942, Uptime Tier standards.
      • Maintain strict adherence to physical security protocols and access management.
      • Facilitate internal and external audits.

F. Capacity, Reporting & Documentation

      • Track and manage capacity for space, power, and cooling.
      • Prepare dashboards, utilization reports, and incident summaries.
      • Maintain accurate documentation including diagrams, SOPs, MOPs, and EOPs.

 

Experience & Education

      • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics, or equivalent).
      • 5–12 years of data center or mission-critical facility operations experience; minimum 3+ years managing a colocation environment.

        • Power and cooling systems
        • Data center facility standards
        • Cabling, networking basics, rack management
        • DCIM and ITSM tools
