Position Summary

Overall Project Engineering Management of a project falling within Power & Metals SBU

Responsibilities

  • Upon successful award, accept Handover from Proposal Engineering Manager
  • Participating in Project Kick-off, Design Review & weekly / monthly Project Review meetings with OWNER / PMC
  • Carry out Contract Review with respect to common clauses affecting multi disciplines, maintain list & ensure implementation.
  • Co-ordinate & collect detailed Engineering Schedule from all disciplines, review discipline activities & synchronize with activity hierarchy as per Project Master Schedule. Provide inputs for Technical Document Register & Vendor Document Register
  • Prepare Executive Progress Summary Report listing areas of concern & actions required from Management if any.
  • Conduct - Key Engineering Meetings, weekly review meetings & monthly Job Review Meetings with Engineering Division Management
  • Ensure that the Engineering team lead engineers adequately address the Project & Manpower requirements by coordinating with the Engineering discipline Supervisors.
  • Monitor the engineering progress, address shortfalls, develop recovery plans where required and ensure plans made are implemented.
  • Ensure that engineering deliverables generated by the project engineering team meet the project requirements in terms of technical content and follow project specific procedures such as the engineering plan, quality plan, document numbering and levels of approval.
  • Assist in resolution of engineering issues based on Weekly Meetings, monthly meetings with OWNER / PMC & request of Project / Engineering disciplines.
  • Co-ordinate with Project procurement team / Project Manager to enable approval of vendor drawings.
  • Ensure that interface items between disciplines are addressed by the Project Engineering teams.
  • Identify with the engineering team potential areas of variation that may arise during the course of engineering for the project and communicate the same to the project management team to ensure its non-occurrence or record changes in scope.
  • Assist the project team lead engineers in their interactions with the client counterparts as required during the project execution.
  • Arrange internal 3-D Model Review with all disciplines. Facilitate external Model Review & Safety Reviews with OWNER / PMC, co-ordinate close out of tags.
  • Track Changes on Project Engineering, ensure change management & control of job-hours.
  • Act as interface between the Engineering team and the Project Management team and ensure smooth transfer of information between the two.
  • Act as interface between the Engineering team and the Supply Chain team and Construction Teams to ensure smooth transfer of information.
  • Participate in Key Vendor Meetings, Detailed Engineering Consultant meetings.
  • Accept Handover of Engineering Risk & Opportunity Matrix from Proposal, Plan and Ensure implementation of Mitigation Plan. Responsible for Engineering Risks & Opportunities during Project Execution
  • Monitor Engineering Control Quantities (BoQ, MTO). Investigate & report escalations/ reductions on monthly basis.
  • Report progress on Project as per agreed formats and data
  • Prepare Project Engineering Closure reports and coordinate updating of lessons learned.
  • Coordinate site related issues. Visit Project Site and vendors shops as per requirement.
  • Deputation to site after Engineering completion till Mechanical Completion, act as interface between Engineering & Construction to facilitate faster resolution of issues

Performance Indicators

  • Budgeted v/s Consumed Man-hour v/s Progress for Overall Engineering for Project.
  • Overall Engineering Monthly Progress achieved for various projects- Planned Vs Actual for Project.
  • Month-wise Control Quantities (BoQ/ MTO) for Engineering between Proposal and Projects
  • Successful mitigation of Project Risks and realization of Opportunities for Cost/ Schedule savings: Overall Control of Risk & Opportunities Cost w.r.t Engineering.

Job-specific skills required

  • Must have multi-disciplinary knowledge in Engineering and prefer to have an exposure in Modularization, Construction / Erection / Commissioning and should be well conversant with all activities / functions of large-scale EPC projects.
