Position Summary

The Project Director is responsible for end-to-end planning, execution, and delivery of manufacturing / Semiconductor projects (greenfield/brownfield), ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards. This role provides strategic leadership and drives operational readiness of the manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities

1. Project Planning & Execution

      • Lead complete lifecycle management of manufacturing projects (concept to commissioning).
      • Develop project charters, timelines, budgets, and resource plans.
      • Ensure alignment with business strategy, capacity planning, and market demand.
      • Monitor milestones, risks, and deliverables using project management frameworks (PMO methodologies).

2. Stakeholder Management

      • Interface with internal stakeholders (Operations, Engineering, Finance, HR, Procurement).
      • Coordinate with external stakeholders including consultants, contractors, vendors, and government authorities.
      • Provide regular progress updates to senior management and board members.

3. Engineering & Technical Oversight

      • Oversee plant design, layout optimization, equipment selection, and installation.
      • Ensure adherence to industry standards, GMP / ISO / Lean manufacturing principles (as applicable).
      • Drive automation, digitization, and Industry 4.0 initiatives.

4. Budgeting & Cost Control

      • Develop and control capital expenditure (CAPEX) budgets.
      • Monitor project costs and implement cost optimization strategies.
      • Ensure financial discipline and ROI targets are met.

5. Risk Management

      • Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
      • Ensure compliance with regulatory, environmental, and safety norms.
      • Manage contingencies to avoid delays and cost overruns.

6. Procurement & Vendor Management

      • Oversee vendor selection, contract negotiation, and performance management.
      • Ensure timely procurement of machinery, materials, and services.
      • Build strong supplier relationships ensuring quality and delivery commitments.

7. Commissioning & Operational Readiness

      • Lead plant commissioning, testing, and validation processes.
      • Ensure smooth handover to operations team with SOPs and training.
      • Drive initial production ramp-up and process stabilization.

 

8. Leadership & Team Management

      • Build and lead a cross-functional project team.
      • Provide guidance, mentoring, and performance management.
      • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, innovation, and continuous improvement.

9. Compliance & Governance

      • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, environmental laws, and workplace safety standards (EHS).
      • Maintain project documentation, audits, and reporting standards.

Experience & Education

      • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Industrial / Chemical)
      • MBA / PMP / Project Management Certification preferred
      • 20+ years of experience in manufacturing/project management
      • Proven experience leading large-scale industrial projects (greenfield/brownfield)
